Carpets from the Arak district in western Persia, with coarse weaves, large allover patterns, mellow colors, cotton foundations. Type was created by the Ziegler firm in the 1880's and was popular until WWI when it was superseded by the Mahal carpets from the same area. Desirably versatile. Large room sizes, very few scatters or runners. Rusts, creams, light blues, pale greens.
