The straw-sand field shows a nine pole allover one-way pattern of attached “bug” palmettes, adapted from 17th century “Transylvanian” archetypes. The originals show fewer pole and relatively larger palmette motives. Straw sand border of symmetric, bitonal oak leaves. Red and beige-tan accents overall. An unusual carpet with impeccable design lineage. Cotton foundation, medium weave. Good condition.
