Marrakesh is not a rug weaving town, but this piece probably comes from the tribes in the surrounding plain. The popular straw field shows animals (camels), hooked and comb-fringed lozenges, tabbed squares and elements of rustic Turkish origin. Brown, tan and sand details. Plain straw flatwoven end panels. Coarse weave in symmetric knots, medium-long pile, all wool construction. Soft handle. Good condition.
